Hi

I have an Exchange 2000 Active/Passive cluster (2 nodes) and I need to
change the IP Addresses to a new subnet as we are moving the servers.

I have been unable to find any information on how to go about changing the
Virtual Cluster IP, Virtual Exchange Sevrer IP and the Physical nodes IP
addresses.

Please could someone point me in the right direction?

Best Regards,

Steve

Change the Node IPs first. Then Use Internet Information Servers Manager
(ISM in 2000) to change the OWA web addr. Then Open Exchange System Manager
and change the IPs under Protocol for the services that you are using.

Any questions post away :)

Cheers,

Rod

Hi Rod,

Thanks for the response. Bow does that then change the virtual cluster IP
address and the virtual Exchnage server IP address?

I had assumed that would involve going into cluster administrator and
changing the parameters for the resource 'Cluster IP' etc.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi For everyones information here is a more detailed answer to my question,
courtesy of MS.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your posting here.

From your post, I understand that you want to change the IP address for the
Clustering Exchange box. If I am off base, post back to let me know.

Based on my knowledge, you can perform the following steps to change the IP
address. (Let's say the nodes are A and B.)

Step 1: Changing the IP Address of Network Adapters
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---

Note: These steps doesn't work for SQL server.

1. Change the IP address of the network adapter on node A. This may require
the computer to be rebooted. If you are prompted to restart the computer,
do so.
2. Start Cluster Administrator and open a connection to the cluster.
3. Double-click the IP Address resource to open its properties.
4. On the Parameters tab in the IP Address resource properties, make sure
that the Network to Use box contains the new network as the network to use.
5. Fail all groups over to the functional node A.
6. Change the IP addresses for the network adapters in node B.
7. Reboot the computer.
8. When both nodes agree on the subnets, the old networks disappear and the
new networks are created.
9. You can rename the networks at this time.

Step 2: Updating virtual IP Address resources
----------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: The following steps must be performed from one of the cluster nodes.
These steps will not work from a computer that is not a member of the
cluster.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cluadmin /noreconnect, and then press ENTER.
3. When you receive the prompt for the cluster name, enter a period "."
(without the quotes), and then click Open.
4. Under the Groups item, click Cluster Group.
5. In the right-side pane, double-click Cluster IP Address.
6. Click the Parameters tab.
7. In the Network box, choose the name of your Public network adapter, for
example, "Public(1)", and then click OK.
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for any other virtual IP Address resources that are not
working in all of the groups on your cluster.
9. Right-click the Cluster Group, and then click Bring Online. Repeat this
step for all groups.

Step 3: Verifying the protocol resources
-------------------------------------------------------------
To make sure that the protocol resources are updated correctly:
1. In the Cluster Administrator program, make sure that the settings for
Network and the new IP addresses on the Parameters tab of all the IP
address resources are correct.
2. In Exchange System Manager:a. Locate the Protocols area under the
Exchange Virtual Server that you want to modify.
b. Expand the HTTP, IMAP4, SMTP, and POP3 virtual servers.
c. Open the properties of these virtual servers, and then verify the IP
address in the advanced properties.

Hope this helps! If anything is unclear or you need further help, just post
back to let me know. Thanks and have a nice day!
