Can I run the SRS on a front end server. It is not supported on a cluster,
and the only other server I will have is a front end Exchange Server.
Article 313646 did not really address the SRS. Thanks.

Yes you can :) Just make sure to install the FE server before you install
the cluster.

Cheers,

Rod

Whoa, wait a sec. I'm not sure how KB.313646 didn't address this question.
Here's what it says:

....In this situation, the following services no longer run on the Exchange
Server computer that is defined as a front-end server: . DSProxy
. Offline Address List Generation
. Recipient Update Service
. Free and Busy Tasks
. Mailbox Cleanup Agent
. The Event Service
. Site Replication Service (SRS)

The article gives resolutions for all of the services except the SRS. If you
all have not noticed I wrote two posts by mistake. Please reply to the other
post from get clusterd. Thanx.

Is this not doable with Exchange 2003 SP1? My test network is dismantled, so
I can test it.

Rod,

As per the identical post written by myself, I am going to do the migration
from 5.5 to 2k3 and switch to native mode before introducing the Front End
server. Thanks.

Ok, then I must be wrong, cause I have yet to see you make any kind of
Exchange related mistake. Sorry for the confusion, which my head is full of
these days.
