Hi there,

I'm trying to create a Restore Storage Group on our Active/Passive Cluster.

But I keep getting an error: "This server already Contains the maximum
number of recovery storage groups allowed" ID no: c1034961 / Exchange System
Manager.

Servers: Windows 2003 Advanced with windows update applied

Exchange 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1 with separate Front-end server

This was a Windows 2000 / Exchange 2000 cluster which was recently upgraded
using http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;842427

In the Microsoft document "Using Exchange Server 2003 Recovery Storage
Groups"
..mspx ) it says:

You cannot create a recovery storage group on both Exchange virtual servers
in a two-node cluster. In active/passive multi-node clusters with more than
two virtual servers, you can create recovery storage groups on multiple
virtual servers.

Does this means it is not possible at all or this there a workaround???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings from Holland.

Michel

This is AP cluster, so you have only one EVS in the cluster?
How many storage groups do you have on the EVS?
And Is this your first RSG you are trying to create?

Hi Jane,

We have a 2 Node A/P cluster with a single EVS.
There are 3 Storage groups in use, 2 contain mailbox stores and the default
contains the Public Folders + empty mailbox store.

I'm trying to create the first RSG and keep getting this error. When I try
the same action at the Front End Server I can create the RSG....

Thanks,
Michel
