2003 Cluster IP change |
|
|
Hi...
We have to move our cluster, DCs and ISA servers to a different IP block. I
want to make sure that these steps are correct.
- shut down the exhcange service on node 2 then 1 from the services tab
- change the IP address resource of the cluster from cluster admin
- change the ISA
- change the DC address
- restart DC then node1 then node2 and check DNS for new address of EVS
Any corrections are appreciated
thanx

Move the DC and correct all the DNS issues, _MSDCS, _SITES, etc. Make sure
the DC is solid first.
Never use the Services MMC to stop clustered services. Also take the either
the group or resource offline.
Next, I think you forgot steps to change the individual nodes IP's. You need
to do that first, if at all. With Exchange, you will also have to change the
Protocols IP's and Internet Information Server IP for OWA. Make sure you
point each node's DNS to the new DC IP.
Its really pretty simple, we do it all the time. Stage a cluster in one
location and then move it.
Cheers,
Rod

Thanks for the reply Rodney...you do it all the time but I am gonna do it
tomorrow for the first time
I need some clarifications though..
shall I take every resource offline first (including exchnge resources) then
change node 1 IP or do the opposite? In MS article about changing IPs it says
to change the IP first then reboot and run Cluster admin using "."
Secondly I wish you can elaborate on changing protocol's IPs (I hope you
meant EVS IP Resource).
if u have any links to articles or examples would be great.
thanx again

Follow the MS article, though my experience shows it really does not matter,
you will reboot right after that anyways.
For the EVS follow -
