Re: MSCS or Veritas Clustering |

This has been out there for a while, so I thought I would answer.
While I don't know the Veritas product as well as I know the Microsoft
provide, I can't give you a comparison, but here is my experience.
Both are good products. Veritas also has other pieces that can be utilized,
such as Veritas VVR, for data replication.
IMHO, there are many more techs that are familiar with Microsoft clustering
than there are folks that are familiar with Veritas. It is also easier to
setup Microsoft clusters if you know what you are doing.
If you setup a Veritas cluster, it is best to spend the money to bring a
Veritas resource on site for 2 weeks as well as purchase the maintenance
contract as well as purchase the training.
Microsoft provides a lot of clustering documentation for free. Veritas is
particular about what they do and don't release to customers that do not
have a support contract. Veritas is also very large on selling their
training.
Veritas only requires Windows 200x Standard, whereas MSCS requires the
Enterprise Edition.
That's not a product comparison, just my experience.
If we were only doing a local Active/Passive Exchange cluster, MSCS would be
my choice.
If we were doing a site-to-site failover for Exchange clusters, Veritas
would be my choice.

Can anyone give me good comparison points between MSCS and Veritas
Clustering with Exchange Server 2003?
I cannot find any comparisons anywhere... I really appreciate it!
Thanks!
