When you say they can't connect, what errors are you seeing? Check client
side (what the user sees) and server side (application/system log).

Also, look at the user properties in ADU&C. On the Exchange Features tab
you can enable/disable the users for IMAP4, etc.

Steve,

No errors in either log files.

All users set as enabled for IMAP access in exchange Features Tab in ADU&C.

If I change user to administrator and enter password, works first time.

Is their a setting in GPO that can effect how IMAP is granting access?

Marcus

What error do you see on the client side then.

Client side continously aks for and has to type in user and password even
though password is correct.
Even by making user a member of administrator group connection cannot be
made via IMAP. connection over HTTP is fine.

I Have The same problem with Exchange 2003 on a SBS 2003 Premium Edition. I
try to connect via Imap4 and only administrator works fine! On the server I
have these errors:

Event ID: 1011
Source: Imap4svc

Description:
Authentication attempt from x.x.x.x to username@domain.com has failed with
error 0x52e.

Sometimes the error is:

Event ID: 1051
Source: IMAP4SVC
Unexpected error condition: call to function CEncryptCtx::CheckServerCert()
resulted in error code 0x800cc801.

What we can try to do?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I had this same error when users were attempting to connect to exchange using IMAP (The 0x52e error).

The solution was to ensure that the "User Logon name (pre-windows 2000)" is identical to the Exchange Alias (from the Exchange General Tab). Once these two values were the same then the user could connect.

I hope this helps you.
