This error is generally related to the user not being in the GAL or not been
able to resolve themselves in the GAL.
Things to look at:
1. GC is it functioning correctly and has it been rebooted since being made
a GC
2. RUS Recipient Update Service - is it functioning correctly and creating
email address etc for users, new users. Is there one for each domain in the
org.
3. Default GAL - have any permissions been set on this restricting who can
use it
4. Group Policy - have you set the policy to restricted anonymous access to
the DC's.
5. GAL - does the user appear in the GAL, has the default query been
modified or is it able to "see" all the users
Depending on the results of these areas it hopefully will give you somewhere
to dig deeper to the cause.
