Setting up Exchange Pop3 and exchange server |
|
|
OK, I have an exchange server, I have laptop users who take their computers
with them (obviously) and want to get there mail. I would also like for
their mail to be backed up using Veritas Backup Exec With Exchange Server
plugin.
Is the proper way to do this to setup all laptops as Pop3 accounts and just
select the leave mail on this server option? and the workstations as
Microsoft Exchange Server?
Or should I set them all up as Pop3? or should I somehow change based upon
where they are, Office or Remote how they check their mail?
Thanks
Michael

To me this sounds like a classic scenario where RPC-HTTP should be used,
given that the clients are using Outlook 2003 and the server are running
Exchange 2003. For more information, I have the following URL to you:

Hope this is of some help.

Is it neccisary to switch it to that?
Currently all of the users use Pop3 to get their mail from netsol
We are changing over DNS records to point to their server to start accepting
mail
I would like as little change as possible to do this.
Thanks,
Michael

Actually
Dont mind the other message - No problem doing this - however - the Sys
Admin that was here before put 2000 on all workstations and I only have 2
workstations that have XP which is a requirement - scolding time for that
sys admin!
What should i do now?
If I use Pop3 - Thats fine - however it wont backup on the server the sent
mail or how the folder is setup
