Re: Upgrading Ex2000 to 20003 and AD 2000 to 2003 |

1. Its your call but I would prefer installing Windows 2003 as a member
server in your 2000 domain then install Exchanage 2003 and move your
mailboxes. Then follow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/152959
2. Well, I assume you meant Mailboxes and not users. The Move Mailbox
Wizard will move your mailboxes, update your Outlook Profiles and preserver
SIS.
3. No. The server holding your 5 FSMO roles will still hold those roles
unless upgraded it to Windows 2003 or manually transfer the roles.
FYI: If you plan to upgrade to Windows 2003 AD first please follow read
these articles,

I'm running an Windows 2000 AD in mixed mode and a Windows 2000 Member
server with Exchange 2000 on it.
I want to have the AD upgraded to 2003 and Ex to 2003. I'm going to load
a
new server with Win2003 and Ex2003.
My questions are:
1. Should I plan to upgrade the AD to 2003 first? Then build a new
win2003/exchange 2003 server? or can I just build the new win/ex 2003
server
and migrate users over then upgrade AD 2003.
2. Will I be able to migrate my users from my current ex2000 to ex2003
without hardache in either case?
3. Regarding the AD2003 upgrade, if I install a new 2003 server, then
DCpromo it, does it take over the all the functional masters? |
