Will have clustered E2k3 OWA (WLB) going to 4 E2k3 back-end servers. These 4
Exchange 2003 Enterprise servers not clustered.

My question is this:

Is OWA smart enough to query the DC and know where a person lives on what
server to get to his mailbox?

a. test user1 on exchange back-end 01
b. test user2 on exchange back-end 02

If I OWA to a single FQDN to unify namespace with test user1 and he lives on
Exchange 01 is all well?

If I OWA using testuser 2 and he lives on exchange 02, is all well?

Thanks.

True. That's partially the point behind having a single namespace/url for
clients to access regardless of where their mailboxes reside in the Org.
Without FE/BE, an Exchange server will redirect you to your mailbox server.
With FE/BE, a FE server will act on behalf of the backend mailbox servers
and pass traffic to and fro.
