Can someone please confirm that the best practice is NOT to perform a quick
format on an Exchange cluste disk partition. I remember reading it in a
Microsoft technical article but cannot find the article.

If you know the link to the MS article it would be very helpful.

Thanks
Rob

I heard from someone internally that it makes no difference, they both do
the basically the same thing on a RAID array.

Cheers,

Rod

Thanks Rod

The following links mention "to stay away from quick format".

http://www.internetaccessmonitor.com/eng/products/articles/10_Tips_to_Optimize_Exchange_2003_Performance_Part_1/10_Tips_to_Optimize_Exchange_2003_Performance_Part_1.php
http://www.petri.co.il/exchange_disk_geometry.htm
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Optimize-Exchange-2003-Performance-Part1.html

Do you know of a MS article that details any of this?

Rob

I hear you and notice all 3 articles use almost the exact same wording. I
remember who told me at Microsoft and he is a top notch NT guy. I would like
to hear or read a Microsoft article or support person say for sure why or
why not. I will try and look later tonight for an MS article.

Cheers,

Rod
