I have set up Exch2003 for a small company - 15 users. They are getting a
tremendous amount of spam. The Junk Email function in Outlook is somewhat
effective, but they'd like to look at server level Spam filtering.

Any recommendations on products available? Of course, we don't want to
spend a ton of money :-)

Thanks.

Install Exchange 2003 SP2 and use the IMF Feature
(http://www.vladville.com/articles/exchangesp2imf.asp). Its quite effective
but uses the same engine as outlook 2003. But you can filter on server
level. There are some more features in SP2 that could help you.

We recommend a service that we use to virtually eliminate spam. It requires
no hardware or software at your location. It filters all incoming email,
and if it is spam it holds it on the service's server. You or your users
can review their held email at anytime by going to a special web page and
logging in. If the message held was a legitimate email and not spam then
you or your users could add it to an exception list right on the same web
page. It just requires one simple change to your MX record.

The other thing that this service does is scan the incoming email for
viruses. Even though you have virus protection on your email server they
catch it before your server even gets it.

The cost for this service is only $50 per month or $600 a year. If you pay
for one year in advance, it only costs $540 for the whole year! It's
incredible!

They offer one free month when you sign up, so if you paid for a whole year,
it would be only $41.54 per month for the first 13 months.

You can review details at www.appriver.com. Let me know if you want to sign
up and I can get everything taken care of for you.

When you think about how much time is wasted each day deleting spam, it is
really worth the price.

Thanks,

Dan Berg
