Headers? |
|
|
Hi,
I'm having an issue with getting the headers of mail messages to stay in
tact when users either forward them (to anywhere) or when they drag and drop
messages to a public folder/newsgroup. I'm wondering if there is anyway that
Exchange could leave the data portion of the message (header, x-header or
whatever you want to call it) in tact so that the original headers can be
read even after the message has been moved to a PF or forwarded to a new
address.
Thanks,
Dan

Is the folder moderated?
I had that same problem, whenever someone forwards an e-mail within the
domain, exchange strips the header because it isn't needed.
What I did was set up a SPAM folder so that users could put their received
spam into, but I didn't want them to access the messages after they put them
in, because they could open them up and potentially spread a virus. So, I
set up the folder to be moderated by me, so they could create items, but not
read items. Well, I found that because I was the moderator, the e-mails were
being forwarded to me, thus stripping the headers.
A couple ways to fix that would be to either remove the moderation, or add
all those users to the moderators list.
Good Luck

In my experience, dragging a message to a pf preserves the Internet
header. Using Exch 2003 SP2 here.

You are correct Andy, BUT if you will set up a moderated folder with only
you as the moderator. Then log in as another user and put an e-mail in that
folder, you will see that the headers were stripped. That happens because
the e-mail is forwarded. Whenever an e-mail is forwarded within the domain,
the headers are stripped. At least that is what has been happening in my
Exch 2000 domain. |

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies, how about in non-MS readers? I can see the
headers in Outlook with no issues but it seems now as if non-MS readers
cannot see the headers. By the way, this is a non-moderated group.
Thanks,
Dan
