First Exchange 2003 install. |
|
|
Hi,
I have a brand new active directory (1 server 2003), one domain.
I prepared second 2003 server for Exchange 2003.
It is a domain controller. Found an info that Server for Exchange
recommended not to be a domain controller. May be it's not important in small
network?
If important:
?) how to remove domain controller feature?
?) what is recommended stand-alone or AD member?
I understand that FORESTPREP and DOMAINPREP I have run on Root domain
controller. Correct?
Please any other suggestions?
I have an experience with Small Business Server. And just started to read
more about real Exchange implementation.
For now I have only one Exchange server.
Thanks,
Michael.

Bharat,
thank you very much for the answer.
1. As I mentioned in my initial post I have a dedicated machine for Exchange
2003.
I wanted to have it as DC in order to have AD replication.
Would you recommend this? (My root DC has AD on it - nothing else).
Or better to keep Exchange machine as a member server?
What is the best solution in my situation? For now we have about 30 accounts.
I don't believe that we'll have more than 100.
2. So I'am going to:
Install Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 server SP1.
Install SP2 for Exchange.
That's it?
Thanks,
Michael.

| So, if not DC, member server? |

Yes, you cannot install it on a server that's not a member of the domain.
