Exchange 2003 - System Manager error 80040d1b |
|
|
I am encountering an error in the SM application, that there is limited info
about. As I navigate to the Administrative Group, and try to view the First
Storage Group, an error is displayed "An unknown error has occurred. ID no:
80040d1b".
All information I can find says that the MSSearch GatherLogs are not in the
place that the registry says they are, which is not the case. This is the
only reference I can find to this error, and I need help because I cannot
view any Information Store, public or private.
This is Exchange 2003 standard, basic installation..nothing special.
Any information I can get would be appreciated.

I have seen a fix for this involving stopping the Search service and
deleting stuff using ADSIEdit - not something you want to get wrong. I
think it's best you are guided by Microsoft PSS with this one.

Did you ever find the solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue
with Exchange 2003 on Windows Small Business Server 2003.

I also have the same issue w/ Exchange 2003 on Server 2003. I'm running
exchange enterprise edition. I've tried the solution from KB817309 that
refers to Microsoft Search and the gatherer path being wrong. That is not
the case in this situation. |

Solution with Restore Microsoft Search for Exchange 2003 |
|
|
For me the Microsoft KB Article does not work so i found this TechNet Article who exactly solved my problem:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124291.aspx How to Restore Microsoft Search
Deleted the Reg Keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\Applications\ExchangeServer_<ServerName>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\CatalogNames\ExchangeServer_<ServerName>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\Databases\ExchangeServer_<ServerName>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\Gather\ExchangeServer_<ServerName>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\Gathering Manager\Applications\ExchangeServer_<ServerName>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\Indexer\ExchangeServer_<ServerName>
then Started Exchange Setup Recovery:
<drive>:\setup\i386\setup.exe /disasterrecovery
Reinstalled Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2
and everything worked fine!
Sincerely
