Using Outgoing Exchange SMTP to send emails from POP account |
|
|
Hi there,
I have a somewhat unique situation and I'm hoping an expert could assist me.
I have exchange server running for company X. Everything works fantastic.
Company X has just created a new company Y. I use the webhosting company netfirms to manage the POP mail for company Y.
The client we use is Microsoft Outlook. I have added company Y's mail account as a POP3 in outlook.
My problem is, how do I use the exchange SMTP of company X to send out emails of company Y's as my local ISP doesn't allow me to use their outgoing SMTP to send emails, so I VPN into my company X to send out Company's Y"s email.
I have setup the SMTP in the Y account in outlook so it goes through company X with the proper authentication. (My outgoing server(SMTP) requires authentication). But it keeps coming up with an error that the server cannot be found, or to check username and password. It works very intermittently.
Please Help!!!!
Any help would be appreciated at this point, I'm completely lost.
Thanks in advance.
