Location behind Firewall |
|
|
Hi all,
I am currently implementing my firewall and considering on using front-end
and back-end exchange servers 2000. The front-end would be placed in my dmz
and the back-end in my secure zone.
Since this would involve purchasing two exch server licences, I am also
looking at alternate ways of setting up the exch environment with the
possibility of accessing the server from the Internet through Outlook Web
Access.
Does anyone have possible suggestions.

The deployment doc is a good resource. You can find it at
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/library
Has some good scenarios for what you are talking about and some good ways to
prevent putting the Exchange server in the DMZ.

how about publishing your exchange server using ISA 2004 in DMZ while your
B/E server still resides in your secure network? and use SSL between your
ISA server and B/End exchange server. At least, you do not have to open any
other ports than SSL.
just a thought.
