combining 2 mailbox in 1 |
|
|
Dear
I have a strange case: My Client have 2 Exchange Server:
1 - Exchange 5.5: For Internal Usage
2 - Exchange 2000: For External Usage.
The Exchange 2000 is in a separate Forest that doesn't have any Trust
Relationship with the Internal NT Domain. So each user have 2 users:
1 - One on the NT domain and the Internal Exchange 5.5
2 - The other one on the Windows 2000 Domain for Ex
Now He wants to upgrade his NT domain to Windows Server 2003.
He wants Migrate both Mail server to one Clutered Exchange Server 2003, the
Users will have 1 mailbox.
He want to combine the mailbox of the Exchange 5.5 and the mailbox of the
Exchange 2000 into 1 mailbox on Exchange 2003. he want to not lose any data
from the mailbox during the Migration.
I really want to know if it is possible to Migrate to 2 Exchange Servers
into 1 Exchange Server 2003 and in the same time combining the 2 mailboxes
into 1.

Sure it's possible. Tricky, but possible. Using the migration tools will
be helpful.

Even if there is not Trust between the 2 Domains???
the User will be able to have 1 User name and open the 2 mailbox as one
mailbox???
Can the Migration tool Do that?

It would seem best to concentrate on the exchange setup in the internal
domain. Get that setup the way you want and then use exmerge on the external
domain mailboxes to output all the mail to PSTs.
This can then be imported into the internal mailboxes.
