I just installed exchange 2003 following the deployment steps to add it to an
existing exchange 5.5 site. Everything installed fine and looked ok in the
logs. The problem i'm having is the i can't mail enable a new user. Also the
exchange attributes are not showing up in active directory users and
computers on the GC when i open a user account. any ideas?

Did you run /forestprep and /domainprep? Did you install ADC?

Could you send the steps or article that you follow?

And try to use Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in in the machine
that you install Exchange 2003 (Microsoft Exchange menu) to check these
attributes.

I used the newest exchange 2003 deployment tools. the checklist was
exdeploy.hta. I did run all of the pre-active directory install steps. They
all completed fine in the logs. Also i successfully moved all mailboxes to
the 2003 exchange server. The option to mail enable a user does not show up
evern on the exchange server through users and computers. under exchange task
i have configure exchange features and remove exchange attributes. Also when
add a new user i do not have the option the enable exchange features for the
user.

i found out what i was doing wrong. When i created the new user i was copying
existing user to save from having to renter group membership and other stuff.
It works correctly if i make a new user from scratch. Does anyone know of a
way to make it work when you copy a user?
