Exchange 5.5 - Messages don't appear... |
|
|
Running Exchange 5.5 (on an NT 4.0 machine) in a Windows 2003 AD domain,
with Outlook 2003 on the clients. It seems that randomly, users inbox
views in Outlook are not updated/populated with new messages from the
Exchange server. Two things can semi-correct the situation. Go to OWA
and view the inbox from there. Delete a few messages, then return to
Outlook and the messages will pour in. Additionally, sometimes just
moving from folder to folder on the Exchange server from within Outlook
will cause the message to appear. However, just clicking 'send/receive'
does not get the messages.
I hope I made this clear enough. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your either working in offline or cached mode. Look at your
outlook icon next to your clock. Hold the ctrl key and right click it. Go
to the option 'Connection Status' in the menu that appears.

Going to Connection Status and then clicking 'reconnect', seems to have
done the trick for now.
I wonder what could be causing the clients to get into this mode to
begin with? It had always been someone else that this had be happening
to, but it finally happened to me too.

Well, this appears to not have been a long term fix. I had the same
problem occur on my workstation again today. No messages. I Ctrl-Right
clicked and choose 'reconnect' under Connection Status, but it did not
work today. The only way I could start getting messages in my Outlook
2003, was to log in via OWA and delete a couple of messages. Then, the
rest started pouring into Outlook.
Any other thoughts?
