I have an Exchange 2003 server and have now purchased another Exchange
server which will be stored offsite. I want this server to be exactly
the same in case anything happens to the first one and so we can
continue to receive emails. Does anyone know how I can synchronise the
servers ?

Thanks in advance

Do you have more information available? For example, what are you using for
storage?

At some point, you have to get the data to the other server. What are your
options at this point? What are your requirements for availability etc?

We were going to take a full back-up to start with and restore it onto
the new server. Ideally we wanted to make the synchronisation as
up-to-date as possible.

Sorry Graeme, that's not enough information to help answer this.
When you say 'synchronization' I'm envisioning a server that is always up to
date. That implies that you send the change deltas to the other site on a
real-time basis. Or as close to it as you can get.

There are some software products that can be helpful there. Search for
Exchange and cluster and software and I think it'll give you some options
there.

If you decide to go the hardware route, you'll want to talk to your storage
vendor and talk about snapshots, data mirroring etc. It becomes a larger
solution and more complex depending on how far you have to take it.
