Re: Some questions about Front End OWA |

1) Yes, licenses required for Windows OS and Exchange SErver - w/Exch2003
Std. Ed. can be FE, w/Exch2000 you'd need Ent Ed.
2) Exchange 200x FEs not recommended in DMZ.
3) Other web sites can co-exist on same server as Exchange FE - better to
use separate IP addresses or port rather than host headers and same IP/port.
(not sure if Sharepoint can... )

enviornment
and I have a few questions that maybe you guys could help me with.
1) Do we have to buy additional exchange licenses for the front end
servers?
2) We use two F5 load balancers in our DMZ to load balance two web servers
in there. Could I use those servers as a FE server for Exchange?
Essentially I would install Exchange on both web servers but not cluster
them
since the F5 creates the virtual server (with SSL) instead. Not sure if
that
would work though. Has anybody tried that?
3) Any reason why I shouldn't put it on web servers that are already
serving
a few other sites including MS Portal and Sharepoint? |
