multi-site exchange |

Current set up - All Win2K3 / Exchange 2K3
AD1 - domain1.com (located in Germany)
AD2 - domain2.com (located in Ireland)
All users in both domains are set up to use domain1.com as their
primary SMTP address. The AD in domain 1 contains user accounts for all
users in domain2. A contact record also exists for domain2 users, and
exchange is set up to forward email messages for users located in
Ireland to the email address in the contact record.
Both sites are connected via a VPN. What I would like to do is install
a DC in Ireland for domain1.com and also a secondary exchange server,
and to have user mailboxes for Ireland users located in their local
exchange box. Also I am hoping this will allow some exchange failover,
i.e to have the second exchange server setup with an MX record of
higher value than the first, so that if there is connectivity problems
in Germany, mail will be forwarded to the Ireland server and then onto
the German one once connectivity is restored.
Once the servers are up and running, I can use ADMT to migrate users in
Ireland from domain2 to domain1
Does anybody know of anything I should be aware of or any problems
which could arise doing this?
