Outlook clients slow and Exchange LDAP errors |
|
|
Hi,
I have an Exchange 2003 SP1 which is a Windows 2003 DC. There is also a
second DC running Windows 2003 with all FSMO roles. I have run netdiag /v
and dcdiag /v and there are no issues in the log. Exchange best practice
analyzer and performance tool does not find any major issues except to move
logs to different disks
Outlook 2003 clients take a very long time to open and events are logged in
Exchange. The client can eventually access Outlook but only after about 1
minute.
Event id 2389
Process STORE.EXE (PID=7908). A search request to Directory Server
servername did not return a result within 30 seconds and is being abandoned.
The search will be retried if possible. The search that failed has the
following characteristics: Base

Scope=4e02e7fc.

Domain Controller mailman.che.ds due to error 0x80040952.

Have you applied windows 2003 SP1 or look for a Q article 893066 in add
remove program. If either of them is present on your windows 2003 server
please apply 898060 hotfix which will require a reboot , and then monitor if
you are still getting DSAccess errors.
If exchange is stop communicating to the DC then outlook clients will
definately see delays or disconnecnectivity issues.

Thanks for the reply. I have 893066 installed but no SP1. I will try to
install SP1 next week and apply the hotfix. Will let you know the results.
