I've just read (in an Exchange 2003 course) that the Exchange Migration
Wizard won't migrate Inbox rules thus forcing the users to recreate their
Inbox rules from scratch.

Does anyone know of a utility, or some other method, that will perform this
task?

Cheers

From what are you migrating?

I'm not sure about this - but note that your users can export their rules to
a .rwz file and import them later if need be.

Well, I'm not, I'm just studying Exchange 2003 at the moment.

However, the course was pretty much assuming migration from Exchange 5.5...

Well, that would be some relief but would still require action on their part
rather than some kind of automated process...

You can export the rules to a .RWZ file from Outlook.

In older versions of Outlook (2000 or earlier as I recall) you could just
copy the existing .RWZ file.

Keep in mind what exactly the Exchange Migration Wizard is for - its for
Exchange Inter-Org migrations and migrations from other mail systems (ie.
Lotus). Typically you would not be doing this type of migration or using
the Migration Wizard.

Rules are based on internal FolderIDs, not their 'friendly' names for lack
of a better term (like Inbox or Outbox). When the Migration Wizard imports
mail from an Exchange server that is located in another Organzation, it
creates a new mailbox which will contain different FolderIDs. Inbox Rules
have to be re-created, you cannot re-import them from .RWZ files as these
contain the old FolderID's as well. I believe that Quest's Exchange
Migration tools may copy over the rules now, but I am not completely sure as
its been awhile since I looked at it.
