need a fundamental, simple answer: |
|
|
Does RPC over HTTPS in a single exchange server environment REQUIRE the
exhcnage box to be a DC and Global Catalog?
yes/no?
We have (1) ex2003 server, member server.
We have (3) DCs, combination of w2k, w2k3, all are GCs.
i've followed the instructions for configuring rpc over https. it works from
the inside, but not on the outside. SSL is open, tested.
Right now, i'm just looking for the simple answer to my question above. I
cannot beleive that it requires an exchange server to be a DC/GC. But it
seems like the prerequisites indicate that it must be. i'm loathe to dcpromo
my ex2k3 box.

Scratch that. See
http://www.windowsitpro.com/Articles/Print.cfm?ArticleID=42877
for info on registry entries needed on the exchange server and GC.

Hi
I have the same issue
If my outlook client is member of the domain it can access exchange mailbox
through rpc over http
If this same client is removed from the active directory domain, I can not
access exchange.
Exchange server 2003 run on a member server behind the firewall on the
private lan and was configured as rpc proxy (back-end server) with the
correct fixed port for rpc proxy. The front-end server run exchange as
front-end for OWA and also rpc proxy with the same fixed ports for rpc and
SSL correctly configured in the DMZ .
The DC and GC are behind the firewall.on the private lan. Do I have to setup
rpc proxy onn these servers ? Or only on the back-end and the front-end
exchange servers runing the rpc proxy
It's seem to be a little confuse on different documentations.
