Hi

I have some trouble sending mail to a few domains, that include
hotmail.com.

I have a windows 2003 server, with exchange 2003 both fully patched
(not sp2 for exchange thoug)

I use pop3 on my exchange, and when I try to send too an hotmail adress
I get this from my postmaster:

Reporting-MTA: dns; smtp1.ispprovider.com
Arrival-Date: Sun, 13 Nov 2005 18:38:34 +0100 (CET)

Final-Recipient: rfc822; e-mailadress@hotmail.com
Action: delayed
Status: 4.0.0
Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; connect to mx1.hotmail.com[64.4.50.99]:
Connection
timed out
Will-Retry-Until: Wed, 16 Nov 2005 18:38:34 +0100 (CET)

I have 1 exchanges servers in my LAN (domain A) and I have one Exchange
in my DMZ (Domain B) On my exchange in doman A, we are using Outlook
2003 connected to exchange. On Domain B I use POP3. (The problem is on
Domain B)

Both domains are using the same internet provider
(smtp1.ispprovider.com). I have no trouble to get mail from my hotmail
account, just when I try to send to it. When I try to send a message
from Domain A, its no problem. Just from Domain B.

Can anyone help?

I know this sounds sipmle, but I had the same problem with hotmail.com and
aol.com.

Make sure there is a ptr record for your server in domain B. If they do a
reverse lookup and don't find a ptr record, they will not accept the
connection.
