We are already using an Exchange 2003 server at our head office site which is
used to accept mail from our primary domain name. I have set up another
domain name, and I will be installing an Exchange 2003 server in a satelite
office. We do not want any VPN links, but is it possible for our exchange
server at the head office to transfer mail for the new mail domain directly
to the remote exchange server directly to it's external IP address (via a
Watchguard Firewall) and vice versa.

Many Thanks

Will the satellite office have a new registered dns domain? (Any particular
reason for that?)

If yes, then it will be transferred directly to that domain's MX server
using DNS lookup.

If you want, you can also create a SMTP Connector and specify the external
IP address of the satellite office's mail server as smarthost. Additionally,
you could create new SMTP virtual servers at each end and encrypt the
inter-office mail transfer using SSL/TLS (recommended if you don't have a
vpn link... )
