Would this work as a quick and dirty migration? |
|
|
I have 10 Exchange 5.5 users. Each has a mailbox. In Public Folders, there
are 3 calendars and 1 contact list that everyone has access to.
I want to migrate Exchange 5.5 user accounts to Exchange 2003 in a new
domain without upgrading the old server. Basically, I want their emails,
contacts and so on, but I am ditching the domain information. All of the
users' current email addresses will be forwarded to their new email addresses.
My plan is to log into each user's account in Outook, download their email
as a pst file, and import it into the user's new account in the new domain.
Finally, I will copy the shared folders to a pst file, import them into an
Outlook account on the new domain, and share them.
Is this method sound? Has anyone else used this method successfully?

They may not be able to reply to previous messages from other recipients in
your Org. FYI
Also you may try Exmerge and move them to PST as well and then import them
back in.
Just make sure in AD their SMTP addresses are correct. But for 10 users it
shouldn't be too time consuming.

Exmerge would be easier (as the other reply mentioned). Or see Recovery
Manager for Exchange from Quest (www.quest.com) - it's a very good product &
I like having it handy.
