De-installation Exchange 2000 |
|
|
Hello,
Exchange 2000 SP3 Standard(all patches installed) is running on a Windows
2000 SP4 Domain Controller.
An Exchange 2003 Standard is allready running in the same site. I followed
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307917 to remove
the first Exchange 2000 computer from the site.
Ive reached step 10, but u guessed it. It sees mailboxes configured at this
server and there for setup cant continue.
Ive even made a clean store, but no results.
What am i overlooking?
Thanks in advance and please answer in this newgroup.

Do a search in ADUC for Exchange Mailboxes and/or Attributes on the Exchange
Server in question.

Well, I would think you would want to Mail Enable them and move their
mailboxes to the new Exchange Server. Did you also do a search for Exchange
Attributes?

Now nothing showsup in AD search.
Please help :-)

They are mailenabled and moved to another e2k3 server.
Searched for Exchange Attributes, but all users are on the e2k3 server or
mail disabled. |

Thanks John,
I allready mail disabled them. Then I mail enabled them and the mailboxes
are now on an Exchange 2003 server. But the installation cannot be set to
remove. Still some mailboxes left on the server.
I did an AD search through ADUC on the e2k and e2k3 server for Exchange
attribs, but nothing showed up. All boxes are on the e2k3.
All accounts are checked one by one to see if I could mail disable them.
Where can I look for more Exchange attribs or do a more thorough search of
AD?
Thanks in advance and please reply in this newgroup.

I am not sure why this happening if you have confirmed that all Mailboxes
and Attributes are no longer present on the old server. ADSI Edit will get
you inside AD but this can be very dangerous if you do not know what you are
looking for. Just use it with caution. As a last resort you might have to
contact Microsoft PSS to get this resolved. It may be a deeper issue with
AD that is causing your problems.

Follow KB How to Remove First Exchange 2000 Server,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307917&Product=exch2k
You can then Manually Remove the Exchange 2000 Server once completed. Just
make sure you allow time for replication and verify that everything has been
moved to the new Exchange 2003 Server before manually deleting your Exchange
2000 Server.

Will http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260378/en-us help?
Does anyone have experience with this?
