redirect e-mail from existing domain to a new one |
|
|
Hi,
I have a company 123.com .
We registred a new domain name 456.com .
I need that e-mail for 123.com will be redirected to 456.com
In other words e-mail sent to bob@123.com will be forwarded to bob@456.com
I am pretty sure it's doable. Yes? No?
My questions:
1. how will look our zone file?
Mail comming to both domains should be dircted to the same e-mail server IP.
2. On a new E2003 server I will have a user bob@456.com with his mail box.
What about e-mails to bob@123.com ? He is not a 456.com domain user.
Where I can set an option redirecting e-mail that comes to bob@123.com
to bob@456.com?
Thanks,
Michael.

set up 456.com in your recipient policy and make sure all mailboxes inherit
the changes/are stamped with the correct addresses in the 456.com domain.
See http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF010.html for more info.

If Joe Bloggs has a mailbox and 123.com and 456.com are both set up
properly, he can have addresses on both domains. Mail sent to any address
will hit his mailbox. You will decide what the default/reply address is, in
your recipient policy/policies.

You'll make the MX record for 456.com match the one for 123.com, usually.

Your public DNS is where you'd do this.,

There is no "domain user" in this sense. Any mail enabled object can have an
address on both domains, or either domain.
Not necessary. See above.

Of course - ask away. Keep all questions in the groups, though. :)
