Hi,

In our organisation we have 2 domainservers w2003 and both are configured as
globel catalog.
Yesterday we had a problem with domaincontroller 1. Because of this our
exchangeserver also had a problem and couldn't send e-mail anymore.

I thought if I had 2 global catalogs that my exchangeserver automatically
would notice if there was a problem with a domainserver.
What am i doing wrong??

Ramon

So long as you have 2 DNS servers available and configured for use by
exchange it should continue to be able to send. From what it sounds like you
may have two DNS and GC servers but unless Exchange is set to use a redundant
DNS server when the primary goes down it will not automatically go through AD
and see that it should use the other DNS server.

Is Exchange installed on a DC?
Is DsAccess set to auto-discovery and does it find both of those DCs?

Hi,

The exchangeserver isn't a domaincontroller and yes it can find both
domaincontrollers. Strange thing. The dns server with the problem could be
pinged but for the rest everything didn't fuction anymore.
Maybe the exchangeserver didn't thought there was a problem because it could
be pinged.
