I just moved all my email boxes to a new Exchange 2003/Win2003 server (the
old one is still up but i redirected my ports to the new one -exch2003/2000-)

It seems to be passing mail fine accept for a few domains....one of which is
msn.com. I am getting a "504 need to authenticate first" in my logs and the
mail just sits in the queue. I tried adding 2 values to my registry with no
luck. I also added a SPF to my DNS servers...still no luck

Anyone have any suggestions?

thanks...STEve "the network munkey"

This may help.?

This is actually an expected behavior in Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2000.
XEXCH50 is an Exchange specific extended command verb that should only be
issued between Exchange machines in the same Exchange Organization.
If your Exchange 2000 server is internal, and part of the same Org as the
Exchange 2003 server, then it should authenticate before sending the message.

You can also modify the following registry key:
HKLM/CurrentControlSet/Services/SMTPSVC/XEXCH50/Exch50AuthCheckEnabled

You can also turn off the outbound XEXCH50; however, it will not prevent
your server from getting this error.

For more information, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=812455
Definitions of Verbs That Are Used Between 2 Exchange Servers

If there is an Exchange 2000 server in your org, applying the Exchange 2000
Post-Service Pack 3 Rollup on this server may help. More info about the
Exchange 2000 Post-Service Pack 3 Rollup can be found at: September 2003
