we are trying to setup a hosted exchange environment. does anyone know where
i can a link or white paper where i can set this up step by step? we are
mostly trying to figure out how to separate the GAL for different domains.

The key ones you need are:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;317298 which
is the one to assign the right smtp addresses. There are a chunk of
others on this since there are multiple ways of doing it, depending on
what configuration you have or want your AD in.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822940 which is the one to manage
multiple address lists (which is akin to 318635 which isn't available
any more) which is the primary one since you want the right GAL to be
presented to the right person.

I haven't seen a step by step article since anyone setting up a Hosted
environment tends to know Exchange inside out.

Mark, can you post or forward the text of the two KB articles, 317298
and 822940, neither of which turn up on a search of the KB ?
