RPC over HTTPS setup |
|
|
I want setup Outlook 2003 to connect to Exchange 2003 using RPC over
https.
Here is a description of my windows network.
I have a Windows 2003 standard edition server running MS Exchange 2003
with SP1. This server is also domain controler, and it is NOT the
global catalog server. I have only one single exchange server in my
office network.
I also have another Windows 2003 standard edition server. This server
is Domain controler and also the Global Catalog server for my domain.
It also serves as File/Print server and also Sharepoint server.
I have clients with desktops or laptops running Windows XP Professional
with SP2 and MS Office 2003.
I want to setup RPC over HTTPS so that workers outside the office can
access their exchange mailbox using their outlook 2003.
I followed all the steps described in this article from microsoft,
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=833401
But I still can't get Outlook 2003 to connect to my exchange 2003
server.
I need to know how do I configure the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy\ValidPorts
on my Exchange server.
This is my primary problem, I am not correctly configuring this
registry key, becuase the Microsoft document assumes that the exchange
server is a Domain Controler and Global Catalog server. Which is not
the case in my network. In my network the exchange server is a domain
controler, but not a global catalog server.
