Groupshied 6.1 for anti-virus? |
|
|
I'm looking at installing Groupshield 6.1 on our 2003 cluster. I heard
there were some problems with the 6.0 version but can't find much on the web
and am hoping they got it right with SP1. What's everyone else use, any
recomendations?
thx

Joe,
The SP1 is NOT the final answer. There are several other patches (McAfee)
that you need to install. I don't know which one(s) because we tried so many
of them before the problem went away.

Pat,
What type of "problems" did you experience? I saw there was a hot fix in
addition to SP1 but it only looked like there was only one on their site.

The cluster nodes would hang every 3 or 4 days. It was as though resources
were slowly being consumed until the machine could no longer run. It would
get so bad that the only way to clear it up was to power off the machine and
then boot it again.

i installed the epo 3.5 (as we use this mcafee product also) and it switched
the framework service exe.
if you are seeing naprdmgr.exe (i think) using your cpu, it is a known err,
and there is a patch.
it occasionally goes to 25% on our active/passive dual dell 2650 exchange
cluster.
a workaround is to net stop "mcafee framework" & net start "mcafee
framework" in a cmd file run nightly.
this will not top your virus protection, just the comunications and
scheduling.
