Hello,

I have searched many official/unofficial docs for my hardware requirements
or how many users our two front-end servers could handle:

owa
oma
activesync

Im mostly looking for official docs or web links.

Seconldy we already have verisign ssl for owa, can we use the same SSL? if
yes how do we configure?

Thanks for your help!

There are a load of scaling guides from the hardware manufacturers
such as HP and Dell to punch in how many types of users you expect to
have. As for OMA and ActiveSync, they don't use much horsepower.
What have you got and how many concurrent users are you expecting?

Thanks Mark for responding to my msg.
Well, Im looking from Microsoft perpective like Ops-calculator for exchange.

Anyway, we have two front-end servers that are used for owa. We would like
to use same boxes for activesync/oma for about 2000 users.

thank you.

Only an average number of users then.... What about concurrency rates
or do you mean 2,000 concurrent users?

You would be fine to go through this:
http://h71019.www7.hp.com/ActiveAnswers/cache/80663-0-0-0-121.aspx and
then translate the hardware into your vendor of choice.

It will probably turn out to be a couple of newer DL380 systems, twin
proc, 2GB of memory and minimal storage.

Yes Mark, its 2000 concurrent user activity.

We already have 2 front-end servers (1gig ram and twin processors) with
verisign ssl in place for owa. We are going to use same verisign ssl for
activesync and oma.

You haven't touched LICENSES, do you mind?

Thanks,

Don't envisage a problem with that volume on those boxes.

Licences are notoriously difficult. Really you should go to the local
sources (MS office, VAR etc. etc.) to answer questions, but the
probable theory for you is that since your users have assets that
belong to you (be they laptops or ipaqs etc) then if that user has a
device that has an Exchange CAL then you ought not to need another
licence.
If you encounter a user who, say, has an iPAQ but has nothing else
that your company owns and has a CAL tied to then that is not a
question for this forum, you need to ask someone with authority.
Remember everything you see here is an opinion and not subject to any
legal binding. You can't take our advice on licencing and then point
the Judge at a newsgroup answer, he won't be impressed and you'll be
going down for a stretch.
