POP3 to retrieve Exchange mail problem |
|
|
We are installing an SBS2003 server and have set up the Exchange portion.
Everything is fine in that regard. However, there are a few users external
to the LAN that would like to use Outlook 2003 and use POP3 to retrive their
mail from the server (OWA is set up, but users want to use Outlook client).
If we set up Administrator, test account settings, it seems ok. Any other
user (and we have even tried adding them to the administrator group) is set
up and when you click test account settings, nothing happens. I have tried
telnet to the server on 110 and it connects but when I enter the password
(even administrator password), I get -error logon failure unknown username or
password. Can anyone shed any light on this? POP3 should not be that much
of a big deal. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

How are they entering their login names - exact syntax?
Note - you might want to reconsider opening up POP access unless you don't
care about storing this data on your Exchange server for backup,
maintenance, "ownership". |
