Hi all-

I have written a service that uses CDO to talk to Exchange. It's general
purpose is to put emails into the user's mailbox from an external source
(a database program).

If I run the service under the domain administrator account, it works
fine. The problem is that I don't want to run it under that account (or
more precisely, I'm not allowed to). When I run the service under
another account, I get E_ACCESSDENIED and the mail doesn't go into the
mailbox.

I have tried creating a dummy user account and delegating full exchange
administration to it, giving it local admin rights as the delegation
wizard suggests, but it doesn't seem to help. I've tried comparing
permissions between the domain account and my dummy account, and I
thought I'd given it all the permissions it wants, but it still doesn't
work.

Does anyone know what rights must be granted to this account so that it
can put mail in the mailboxes, but have no other rights? I figured I
could create a domain user, instead of a domain admin, but so far this
hasn't worked.

Thanks,

Ron
