    A Mail list called "everyone"

Have migrated from 5.5 to Ex2003 on Win2003.

The old set-up had a mail group called "everyone" which they could mail
    to.

They can no-longer use the term "everyone" as a mail list. When they try
and create a group by this name it says that it already exists.

OK, now all object are held in AD, so I can see why it will not let you
use "everyone" as a mail name since it is a group in Windows.

But why can you not use it in outlook to send to all users?

Because it's a reserved name as you've discovered. Just create a new list
called "All Users" or something similar.

However, bear in mind that it's good practice to set access
restrictions on this group so that not everybody can send mail to it -
especially not everybody on the whole Internet :-)

I've sometimes seen "all users"-mailing lists in large companies, and
at least once a day somebody would send something to such a mailing
list that didn't really belong there... from christmas greetings to
"Kittens to give away". A general mailing list is a nice tool, but not
if all users send stuff like "Car xy left the lights on" - for a car
that isn't even on the same continent as you...

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.
