OWA Outlook Web Access login issue

Hi, I have a freshly installed Exchange 2k3 server in a Ex5.5 organisation
and am migrating users to it. SP1 is also installed with the required OWA
hotfix. I have setup an Enterprise CA and issued a cert to the default web
site on this server and am trying OWA just internally from the LAN. Using
HTTP works fine. I have enabled FBA and compression on the HTTP Virtual
server and tried both low and high compression.

When connecting using https:// whichever I use I get the login screen, but
when I login it just returns me to the login screen with no errors. I have
tried from a XP client and a 2k client with different versions of IE, but
always the same result. HTTP continues to work okay. I have also tried
different forms of username (i.e username@domain.local,
    netbiosdomain\username, DNSdomain\username, etc).

Can't seem to find any pointers out there for this particular issue, so can
anybody come up with any suggestions?? Thanks!

Guess I should also mention this occurs both with the administrator account,
existing users and also a freshly created test user.
