This is a classic issue. New mail notifications are
issued via UDP
packets that are being blocked somwhere. Check client
AV/Personal
firewalls/proxy client and server//router/whatever is in
between the
exch server and the clients. Also make sure Office and
O/S are at the
latest SP and you have enough disk space and NICS are at
the latest
driver as well.

Windows 2000 clients connect to the exchange server
via Outlook 2000. The only way the client can see if

have a new e-mail is when they click another folder and
return to the Inbox. Basically if they have
the inbox selected and someone sends them an e-mail it
shows no new e-mails,it's like the inbox is not
refreshing!!
This issue affects clients on the same subnet as the
server, with no packet filtering of any kind.
