    Is it possible?

    Hi

    Two independant companies about to join forces - each has 1 W2K server also
    running Exchange 2000, own domain names email addresses etc.
    The companies wil shortly be netwoek together via leased lines/Vpns etc.

    Is it possilbe to keep the two domains independant of each other but join
    Exchange together to give us 1 organisation with one email address across
    the newly formed company, showing 1 global address list etc?

    Yes, it's technical possible, but you have lots of work to do.
    I strongly advise you to read "Planning an Exchange Server 2003 Messaging
    System", a great document from the Microsoft Exchange Team.
