    Reverse IP - help

    Hi,
I ran the quick test at http://www.aboutmydns.com and it warns that my
SMTP server does not have a reverse IP lookup. How do it add that in
DNS? I am using Microsoft DNS.

What is the worst thing that can happen if I ignore this warning?

If you do not have a reverse lookup for you SMTP server then their is a high
possibility that some domains ( for example aol.com) would reject emails
    from your server.

If you have the DNS Server under your control :
To setup reverse zone simply create a reverse lookup zone on your DNS Server
Make sure that your ISP refers to your server for reverse lookup.

If your ISP does the DNS for you....ask them to create it.

I find http://dnsstuff.com better to troubleshoot dns issues..

    Hello Bengali,

Make sure the reverse lookup zone for your subnet and at least the
PTR-Record for your SMTP-Server exists in the external DNS. You wrote
that you are using Microsoft DNS, but does that DNS-Server answer
queries from the internet as well? If not you'll have to ask your ISP
or whoever holds your domain externally to create the PTR-Record for
    you.
