    .local instead of .com extension

I have a major stupid problem...... I installed the domain using local for
the extension.....now my problem is that the fqdn is mail.mydomain.local not
mail.mydomain.com ????? when I confiqure the outlook client. Outlook
changes the fqdn to the local extension. How do I get my outlook client to
    connect???

Using mail.mydomain.local for internal users should be fine - can you ping
that name or otherwise resolve the address? What error message do you get in
Outlook when you try to connect to that name?

    Cheers

That is not a problem at all. It is actually common practice by many.

How is that a problem? IT should be able to connect. Are you trying to
connect using OL2003 / RPC over HTTPS or something?
