    Schema Master error

I am installing a new server to replace the old one. The new server has been
added to the domain as a domain controller. The new server has the same
computer name as the old one. Everything was going fine until installing
Exchange 2003. Everytime I install Exchange I get the error message that the
schema master can not be contacted. Any suggestions on this would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Gerald

    Gerald-

Is the DC that holds ht schema master fsmo alive and well? Can you ping it
    by name? by IP?

I can ping it by name and ip address. If I go to the schema snap it and try
to transfer the schema master to the other server, I get the error message
that fsmo could not be contacted and the transfer operation failer.
